Paris City Hall poster reprint of a 1889 engraving by Auguste Vitu

This lovely Hôtel de Ville poster was made from 1889 book page on Paris, an engraving originally made by Auguste Vitu. It shows in intricate details the city hall of Paris with its square (parvis) as it was at the end of the 19th century, with a view of the Rue de Rivoli on the left. The cars and the dress code have changed a little but the architecture remains eternal.

This poster was made by scanning an original 1899 engraving at very high resolution. The original print was intended to be seen at a much smaller magnification so that some printing defects, present in the original, may appear with a large size poster. I have chosen to keep these defects as they are part of the charm of these lovingly handcrafted antique prints.

The image has an ivory-beige background.
